Timesheet formats
Client-billable timesheet template
The version you attach to an invoice. Specific enough to defend line by line, with nothing internal on it.
Opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice — no conversion needed.

What is in the file
These are the actual columns in the download, with a filled sample row so you can see the expected shape. Cells beginning with an equals sign are formulas and compute when the file opens.
| Column | Sample value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Date | 2026-08-03 | |
| Deliverable / work item | Checkout flow — build and unit tests | |
| Team member | P. Sharma | |
| Role | Senior engineer | |
| Hours | 6.5 | |
| Rate | 2500 | |
| Amount | =ROUND(E2*F2,2) | Formula computes on open |
How to use it
- →Describe the deliverable, not the activity — “checkout flow build” is defensible, “development” is not.
- →Keep internal cost rates off this sheet entirely; it goes to the client.
- →Attach it to the invoice rather than sending it separately, so the hours and the amount arrive together.
When the spreadsheet stops scaling
A template is the right answer until the reconciliation between sheets costs more than the sheets save. Workclave records the same data as work happens, applies your policy automatically, and produces the register, the payroll input and the client hours statement from one source.
