# Work From Home and Hybrid Policy — Template > Replace every **[bracketed]** value before use. Drafted for an Indian employer > permitting remote or hybrid work. Not legal advice — review against the Shops > and Establishments Act applicable in each state of operation. ## 1. Scope This policy applies to employees at **[Company name]** whose roles can be performed away from a company office, as agreed with their reporting manager. ## 2. Working pattern - Eligible employees may work remotely **[up to N days per week]**, or **[fully remotely]** where their role is designated as such. - Core hours during which employees are expected to be contactable are **[11:00 to 17:00]**. - Outside core hours, employees manage their own schedule provided contracted hours are worked and deadlines are met. ## 3. Attendance and working time - A remote working day is a working day. It is recorded in the same way as an office day and appears in the attendance register identically. - Working time is recorded as sessions, whether the work happens at home, in an office or at a client site. - Statutory limits on daily and weekly hours, rest intervals and weekly off apply in full to remote work. ## 4. Availability and response - Employees are not expected to be available outside their working hours. - Where the role requires on-call or standby availability, that expectation is documented separately and compensated as **[describe]**. ## 5. Workspace, equipment and expenses - **[Company name]** provides **[laptop, and where applicable a monitor and peripherals]**. - Employees are responsible for a suitable working environment and a reliable internet connection. - **[Any stipend or reimbursement, and how to claim.]** ## 6. Information security - Company data is accessed only from company-provided or approved devices.
How to use it
- →Decide the working pattern and core hours before circulating — those two values drive most of the rest.
- →Section 8 on cross-border work matters more than it looks: a month worked from another country can create tax and employment-law exposure.
- →Pair with the no-surveillance policy so remote employees know monitoring does not change at home.
Before you rely on it
Drafting starting point, not legal advice. Several states amended their Shops and Establishments rules to accommodate remote work; the record-keeping obligation travels with it.
When the spreadsheet stops scaling
A template is the right answer until the reconciliation between sheets costs more than the sheets save. Workclave records the same data as work happens, applies your policy automatically, and produces the register, the payroll input and the client hours statement from one source.
