WORKCLAVE VS CLOCKIFY

The Clockify alternative with approvals on every plan

A free timer is not an attendance system.

Clockify's free tier is genuinely generous and its timer is excellent. What it does not give you is an attendance register, a manager approval step on the free plan, or anything that knows Indian statutory rules exist.

Workclave is a Clockify alternative for Indian teams that need an attendance register and approvals rather than only a timer.

Who should not switch: Do not switch if free time tracking covers the job and nobody has to approve hours before they are billed.

What a team actually pays: Workclave vs Clockify

Clockify is cheap and has a real free tier for up to five users. The cost appears when you need approvals, which start at Standard, and it never covers the Indian compliance side at all.

Where Clockify wins on price: Clockify has a free tier of a size we have not confirmed (no timesheet approval). If price is the deciding factor at your size, that is the honest answer. Workclave is not the cheapest tool in this category and does not claim to be. What you pay for is a session that arrives project-linked and manager-approved, so the hours on the invoice are the hours somebody signed off.

Not confirmed against Clockify's own page
  • freeTier — this repo carried both 'up to 5 users' and 'unlimited users' for the same plan. Neither is published on the page as a seat cap we could read, so the seat count is suppressed rather than guessed.

Check clockify.me/pricing before deciding — last read August 2026. Several vendors show different pricing by visitor country, so what you see may differ from what we read.

Prices checked against clockify.me/pricing in August 2026. Vendors change pricing without notice, some quote annual-prepay rates rather than monthly, and several apply seat minimums that raise the real entry cost — always confirm on the vendor's own page.

  • Screenshots are available from Pro, off by default, and notify the workspace when enabled.

An honest read on Clockify

WHERE CLOCKIFY IS GENUINELY STRONG
  • Genuinely useful free tier for up to five users with unlimited time tracking
  • Clean, fast timer with good browser and desktop apps
  • Screenshots are off by default and notify the workspace when enabled — a fairer design than most
  • Low per-user cost at every tier
WHERE CLOCKIFY FALLS SHORT FOR PROJECT TEAMS
  • No attendance register or statutory output for India
  • Timesheet approval withheld from the free and Basic tiers
  • Priced in USD, so the cost moves with the exchange rate
  • Built as a timer first — attendance, leave and payroll inputs are not the model

Migrating from Clockify to Workclave

Export your Clockify time entries and keep them for history. Workclave starts fresh with sessions carrying project, client and approval from day one.

  1. 1
    Export your people list

A CSV of names and emails is all Workclave needs. Departments map to teams on import.

  2. 2
    Create the projects you bill

Every check-in is linked to one from then on, so this is the step that changes what your data means.

  3. 3
    Run both for one cycle

Compare the two registers at month end, then point payroll and invoicing at Workclave's approved-session export.

Workclave vs Clockify: common questions

Is Workclave a good Clockify alternative?

If you need attendance and approvals rather than only a timer, yes. Clockify tracks time well but has no attendance register, and its approval step starts at the Standard tier. Workclave includes approvals on every plan and generates the statutory attendance record from the same data.

Does Clockify take screenshots?

On the Pro and Enterprise tiers it can, but the feature is off by default and every workspace member is notified when an admin turns it on. That is a more honest design than most monitoring tools. Workclave has no screenshot capability at all.

How does Clockify's price compare for a 20-person team?

Checked August 2026: Clockify Standard is $5.49 per user per month on annual billing, so a 20-person team is $109.80 per month. Workclave is ₹3,980 per month for the same team, with approvals and the India attendance register included. Clockify's free plan is free for unlimited users, which ours is not — if a timer is all you need, take it.

Compared with the other tools on your shortlist

Most teams evaluate three or four at once. Every page carries the same feature matrix, cost table and honest read on where the other tool is genuinely stronger.
