Getting started

What is Workclave?

Workclave is an app for attendance, time tracking, leave and payroll. This article explains the main ideas and how they fit together.

What Workclave does

Workclave records work as sessions. A session starts when a person clicks Start session. It ends when they click Stop session. Each finished session goes to a reviewer for approval.

Approved sessions become attendance. Attendance feeds the reports, the attendance register and payroll. Leave requests, holidays and shifts complete the picture.

  • Sessions: start and stop a timer, optionally for a project.
  • Approvals: managers and admins approve or send back sessions and leave requests.
  • Leaves: people check their balances and apply for leave.
  • Projects: group time by project, client work or engagement.
  • Team: see who is working now, invite people and organise departments.
  • Reports: monthly hours, attendance, late marks, a timesheet by project and an attendance register.
  • Payroll: salaries from attendance, with PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS for India.

How your data flows

  1. A person starts a session, works, and stops the session.
  2. Workclave marks the session Waiting approval and sends it to a reviewer.
  3. The reviewer approves the session or sends it back with a note.
  4. Reports count all sessions that are not rejected, so you can see work in progress.
  5. Payroll counts only approved sessions. Each working day with an approved session is a present day.

Approve sessions and leave before you run payroll. Unapproved days count as loss of pay.
